How Heat Holders Can Save Your Summer

How Heat Holders Can Save Your Summer

The notoriously unpredictable British weather can wreak havoc with your holiday plans – but with Heat Holders, at least you won’t have to feel cold. Here’s our guide to staying warm over the summer months when the sun goes down.

Every UK holidaymaker has been there. You turn up at the beach, campsite or country cottage clad in only a T-shirt and shorts, confidently expecting a week of blazing sun, gentle breezes and balmy evenings. But the reality could hardly be more different. The wind is biting, the dark clouds are rolling in and… wait, was that a spot of rain? And even if the sun shines by day, the nights in the UK can still feel bitterly cold.

The UK weather fully deserves its reputation. While average summer temperatures are up around a reasonable 18ºC (64ºF), they can just as easily fall to around 9ºC (48ºF), at which point even the cheeriest dad might think about switching to long trousers. And while temperatures are broadly similar throughout the British Isles, the further north you go, the more wind and rain you should expect.

There’s really no way around it. When you book a ‘staycation’ in the UK, you’re putting your precious holiday in the lap of the gods. And of course, you can’t escape the weather if you stay at home either. But with a little forward planning and some judicious purchases from the Heat Holders range, you can at least protect yourself against the worst that the great British summer might bring.

For over a decade, Heat Holders have been the brand of choice for anyone who feels the cold, spends time outdoors or just wants to enjoy luxurious warmth. Our products pack a big thermal punch into styles that are compact and light, giving you a reliable source of warmth without taking up too much room in your bag. What’s more, we’ve expanded our range to include a huge range of colours and styles, so you can stay warm and keep looking good too.

Let’s start with the foundations. If you want reliable, all-day warmth, you can’t go wrong with Heat Holders thermal underwear. Our base layers provide blissful warmth and all-day comfort, while the carefully brushed inner surface traps and holds warm air next to your skin.

Next on this list has to be some thermal loungewear, whether that's one of our hoodies, snugover fleece jackets or the new for 2023 mega hoodies. All of these are are perfect for layering over your outfit when the sun goes down but there's still time for one more drink in the garden. Likewise, if clouds suddenly appear and you're finding it chilly in the shade, these items are perfect to throw on and keep cosy. Also, our thermal loungewear makes the perfect addition to any festival-goers outfit, pack away when the sun's shining but layer up when it comes to the evening.

We know, you shouldn’t need thick socks in summer – but in practice, you often do. If the sun refuses to shine on your walk or there’s a chill wind blowing through your tent, Heat Holders socks will banish the chill.

Our thickest and warmest socks, Heat Holders Originals, are probably overkill, even in the UK (although we’re not stopping you if you feel the need). For summer, our Lite thermal socks and Ultra Lite thermal socks range are probably a better option. They’re lighter and thinner than our Original socks, but still offer warmth when you need it. Pair them with trainers or casual shoes for a light and comfortable feel combined with wonderful Heat Holders thermal cosyness.

To make sure you get a sound night’s sleep in even the draughtiest tent, go for our sleep socks, available in both men’s and ladies’ styles. Or, if you’ve chosen a more civilised holiday let or rural cottage, stay warm throughout the evening with our grip-soled slipper socks and thermal lounge socks. And for kids who want to stay cool while they keep warm, we also have fabulous Disney, Marvel and Star Wars thermal socks.

You know the feeling. You’re ending the day with an early evening drink in a pub garden, or a fish and chip supper on the seafront. It seemed like a good idea at the time. But now the sun’s going down, the wind is getting up and you can’t kid yourself any longer. It’s time to admit that you’re just not warm enough.

To shut out the wind and get an instant boost of heat, you can’t beat a hat-and-scarf combo. Our Heat Holders hats feature a rib knit on the outside paired with the classic Heat Holders fabric inside, keeping you reliably warm however cold it gets. We also have a wide range of scarves, including traditional styles plus practical neck warmers and infinity scarves that are ideal for more vigorous outdoor activities. All our ladies mix and match accessories and men's thermal accessories feature the same Heat Holders thermal fabric as our hats.

Finally, if you need a versatile yet reliable source of instant heat on demand, you can’t go wrong with our thermal fleece Heat Holders blankets. At home, in the car, in a caravan or tent, or at a festival, our blankets are ideal for everything from warming up kids after a swim in the sea to snuggling up in front of the TV. Every household needs one or two, just in case!

Obviously, it would be nice if you didn’t need any of our tips. And we hope the sun smiles on your holiday from beginning to end. But if there’s one thing that holidaying in the UK has taught us, it’s that it’s always best to be prepared.
